Gloomy Bear is the brain child of Mori Chack, a Japanese graphic designer, who is famous for his Chax product line. Gloomy is a 2m tall, pink bear that tends to in Alex’s (Madagascar) word “bite the hands that feed him”. Mori believes that humans and animals are incompatible, and an animal should remain wild by nature. With that in mind, he designed Gloomy as an antithesis to the excessively cute animal themed products.
Gloomy, was abandoned as a little bear and was rescued by Pitty (the boy).
At first, he is cute and cuddly.
The days go by and Gloomy mature into a full-grown adult bear.
Since bears do not become attached to people like dogs by nature, Gloomy occasionally attacks Pitty even though he is the owner. So Gloomy has blood on him from biting and scratching Pitty.
Poor Pitty. He loves Gloomy so much that despite all the pain and suffering that he has to endure, he remains with Gloomy without any complaint. Ooo what wondrous, unrequited love.
I am dedicating this post to my “Gloomy”. =P
Extra!!!
This is the initial Revoltech Gloomy Bear.
And this is the Taito x Kaiyodo version which is about 50% larger compare to the first release.
The Pitty brothers.
Close up on Gloomy. There are not much difference in the design for both Gloomy. The initial Gloomy comes with some blood stain on the chest.
Caution! Domestic violence!!!

I am still digesting the fact that the pinky cuddly lovely-looking bear was that ferocious! Keep up the writing momentum, 'pitty'. From the not-so gloomy Gloomy bear ;P
